Hosting A Period Party With Seventh Generation

2011 January 7

I’ve been waiting for over a month to share this with everyone!

I was asked last month to host a ‘Period Party’ with my daughter and her friends and her friend’s moms. I was all… um… really?? Like, sit around and talk about tampons and cramps and… yeah I don’t think so.

Turns out. I asked my daughter what she thought about it.. and she totally surprised me.
Please go read about it, I posted it on the Seventh Generation website.

Watch my daughter talk about her first period. Dude. Have times changed or what?

My experience as a teen girl was so much like yours – I’m floored and just so so impressed. The party is a great idea and really reflects the open dialogue you have with your daughter, also. ‘Girl Power’ is something I didn’t start to find until the end of high school – young girls now are rockin it!

that is awesome all those girls were able to get together with their moms and really talk about the issues that girls have to face. I worry all the time about my daughter feeling comfortable enough to talk to me about everything when she gets older, I want us to have an open relationship where she knows she can come to me with anything she needs. I didn’t have that with my mom I want to make it right with my daughter. Having a daughter is scary enough 😉 but atleast if she is open with you, you can hope that you can always talk with her and help her to be sure to make the right decisions in her young life that will carry over into her adult life.

thanks for posting this, now if I can just make it thru the non hormonal stage it gives me hope that I can make it thru the hormonal stage of her life:)
