The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) Hosts … Light The Night Walk In Your Neighborhood!

2014 August 28

I am a compensated ambassador for the Light the Night campaign.
All opinions expressed here are my own.

We are super excited about the Light the Night walk for LLS!
I LOVE the idea of a night walk.

How fun!
Walking with friends and family, glow sticks and light up lanterns, balloons and even better— for a charitable cause!

The Light the Night walks take place from September through November across the US.
Check and see if there is a Walk Near You?

Make it a Family Event!

My daughter is turning into a running star. She loves it. She runs cross country with the high school team (though she’s still in Middle School) and she kicked some serious 4×400 relay track butt last year with her undefeated Middle School team!

I on the other hand never ran track as a kid; I loved sports though… and as a 40+ mom I’ve picked up a tiny bit of running this year. And completely surprised myself with how much I’ve enjoyed it?

When I saw that the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society hosts a fun walk called Light up the Night I checked local schedules in the Charlotte area (there are several walks and dates in fact!) and the walk in Rock Hill is on the same evening as a Cross Country meet nearby. Oh YES. I signed the whole family up!

Donate $100 and Become a Champion for Cures

My goal is to encourage my friends and family to donate a total of $100 and then match it with our own $100 donation! Because… If you raise at least $100 you get one of the cool Red Lanterns!

(Oh how I NEED one of those Lanterns in the WORST way!!)

#LighttheNight Walk for LeukemiaI’m guessing nearly everyone knows someone with cancer or someone who has battled cancer.

I have a friend whose adorable little girl battled Leukemia for more than 2 years and I saw first-hand this kid is one tough fighter!

She is doing well today and even though I can’t possibly understand the years of pain and trials they went through, I would gladly walk one hundred miles if it would help even just one little kiddo avoid childhood cancer.

Let me know if you’d like to join our team!

Sylvan is a Special Sponsor to This Year’s LLS Light the Night Walk

Sylvan Learning is partnering with LLS through Light The Night, with a commitment to raise $250,000 and to donate more than 12,000 hours of free tutoring services in nearly 200 communities nationwide to help young blood cancer patients and their families with the transition back to school.

 Here’s how you can help:

Won’t you join us? Let’s all walk to the end of cancer and, at the same time, help kids get back into the swing of school, often while they are still undergoing treatment.

Disclosure: This is a compensated post. My thoughts and excitements about the Light the Night walk are all my own.

I’ve done this walk in NYC several times. So much fun walking over the Brooklyn Bridge. Even in the pouring rain!! I’d love to do the walk again in memory of my good friend Elaine who lost her fight with Leukemia a couple of years ago.
