Pinterest & Formulists | 2 Must Have Geek Tools

2011 May 2

Get Your Geek On.

Is it on?

Good.

I’m all excited about TWO new bloggy/social media/geek tools. (New to me anyway.)

FIRST: Pretty Pictures Pretty Please.

Pinterest.com

It’s new. It’s weird. It’s full of awesomeness and wonder.  Okay it’s full of images and vision boards. (I only recently even learned what a vision board is so don’t listen to me, just hop over and get your own.) If you need an invite, leave me a comment and I’ll share the Pinterest love. Find new pretties and ‘pin’ them to various boards you categorize how ever you want.

You’ll love the Apple Green Vest I found. Let’s just say I recently found out what Luii is.

My Pinterest Site: http://pinterest.com/goodncrazy

Create an account and link to both Twitter and Facebook (it doesn’t push info to either without your consent, love that, but it will connect you with other Pinterest users who you already follow on Twitter and Facebook). You’ll be a trendsetter.

SECOND: CLEANING UP THE STREAM

(Better known as I don’t need to follow you any longer, oh? You already weren’t following me.)

Formulists.com

I’m a Twitter list junkie. Creating them right and left (I think you are allowed 21 lists?). But what I can’t seem to figure out lately is how to efficiently CLEAN up my dang Twitter stream of follows or not follows or people who just don’t want to be in my stream any longer. As is evident by the fact they stopped following me. I’m not emotional or anything, I mean what do I care?

Anyway.

  1. Create an account
  2. Then choose to add a list
  3. Then choose the ‘Track Follows’ option and create a list of people who are NOT following you (Clicking the private button of course.)

After it loads, click back to Twitter.com and open the new list it created for you. Takes about 2 minutes to deteremine who you want to keep following. And the next day it will create the list again, updating anyone who is not following you.

Seriously this is the first time I’ve found something that actually worked.

Whatever hatred saves the number.

Ms. Chaotic turned me on to the Formulists a few months ago. I am loving it. Can I pin it on Pinterest? Kidding. I’ve asked Barb for an invite so hopefully she will hook me up. If not, I will be back. Thanks for the tools. @ColoScienceMom
