TogetherCounts | Help A Family Out!

2011 May 18

I need help. I need motivation.

I used to be active.

I used to hang at the gym. I loved Yoga, BOSU, Body Sculpting Classes and THE treadmill. Oh the treadmill…. I had a love affair with audio books while walking/jogging on the 2nd treadmill from the right.

And Pandora? My favorite jogging station was anything DISCO! I called it my “I Will Survive” soundtrack.

That was a mere 6 months ago.
So what happened?

I’m not sure.

  • Late nights?Check
  • Early work phone calls?Check (being 3 hours behind East Coast time is HARD)
  • Mid morning school volunteering? ….Check
  • Lunch dates with GirlFriends? …Check
  • Afterschool rat race crazy run around drive time?DOUBLE Check
  • Now that it’s spring—Little League each evening? ….Check
  • Lather Rinse Repeat?Check!

Should we talk about LACK of time to properly menu plan or make lists or grocery shop?

(No. I didn’t think so.)

Tuesdays have become our worst crazy day. We’ve started calling it ‘Eat On The Run Night’ at the Rogers’. Let’s just say—the kids are sick of dinner  on their laps, in the momvan, on our way to one thing or another.

We need Help. We need Planning.
We. Need. Priorities.

We need an online Family ‘Get Healthy’ Tool like Together Counts.

  • I don’t have time for the gym, but I DO have time for bike rides on Saturdays with my kids.
  • I don’t have time to cook on Tuesdays, but I DO have time on other nights of the week.
  • And breakfast can be a healthy family meal right?

I’m ready to take the Together Counts pledge. I’m ready to increase better healthy family meal times. I’m ready for hikes and family tennis outings.

How about you? Are you ready to join us? Go ahead I dare you to try out Together Counts!

Together Counts is a great online resource to count and keep track of your family’s meals and active time.

From university research

(Be careful what you do, they’re watching!)

“….children model their own behaviour on the adults in their lives. And actions speak louder than words. Children are more affected by what they see their parents do than what their parents say. “

When people eat together, they slow down, have conversations, builds relationships, become engaged in each other’s lives. –Together Counts

It’s amazing how so many things can come in the way of exercise, right? I totally have to renew my efforts and get my butt moving again regularly.
