Unpacking; The Joy of Moving

2010 March 18
by Carissa

We are officially all moved in.

We are officially NOT all put away.
This is the entryway. I think the wardrobe boxes give it SUCH character!

This is the crap.

This is the living room.
Where all the crap has landed.
Do NOT make fun of our ‘chic’ fireplace.
Instead chant with me:
It’s whimsical, it glows with personality…
It’s whimsical, it glows with personality…

All right, what did you expect with a circa Brady Bunch era home?

And the master bedroom.
TV is all.set.up.
Waited 4 hours for the cable guy.
That’s what I call PRIORITIES.

It’s whimsical, it glows with personality!

Good luck unpacking….that is totally my least favorite part. And I would have totally waited for the cable guy too. Priorities.

ohhh Carissa! Your home is gorgeous (even with those lovely boxes all over) Spacious and homey! I love it! The fire place made me giggle, I went to a cabin out in Lake Arnold once and they had a fire place just like that! We werent allowed to light it and one night a squirrel came in and out from it…. but it definitely gave the entire place character. I love your living room! 🙂 I am so happy you’re finally moved! I hope you stop living out of boxes soon! 🙂 hehe

I’m very glad to see you have your priorities straight 🙂

For us it was making sure we had a basketball hoop, and television.

Hi Carissa! LOL I didn’t mean to freak you out with the squirrel story LOL , keep in mind we were in the middle of no where (no cell phone reception on any service = middle of no where), by a lake surrounded by really BIG BIG BIG treees 🙂

For laughs, the squirrel freaked us out so much we ran into the bathroom giving it full range to the other rooms LOLOL

Are you going to remodel your kitchen? I hope to see more pictures when you’re all settled in! Hope you’re not losing your mind over there

p/s I’m all giddy that you gave my blog a visit!

Okay, the packing part is fun because you go through your stuff and get rid of the things you’ve been meaning to get rid of. Now unpacking is another story. I personally put all the furniture away first, and in the right place so I have some place to put the other stuff, but much prioritize. BEDROOM FIRST for some much needed rest! Good luck and CONGRATS on the new home.

At the risk of sounding like the strangest person on earth….I actually ENJOY moving! Maybe it’s because I love to organize stuff. I know, I’m strange. But your boxes have me wanting to move now. Thanks.

From what I’ve seen so far – I really REALLY like your house! I still say the cabinets are super-mod gorgeous (hardware and backsplash aside), and look at all that gorgeous woodwork in the entryway, etc! The rooms are spacious, and look at all those windows! No lie – a 70’s house would be at the top of my list if we were to move. I think the fundamental design of the houses from that period is really solid – just enough modern – always well done. Details can be changed!

I’m so excited for you guys – and a little jealous!! (but not of the unpacking part- definitely not jealous of that part!)

    xo, Melissa

Just take it one day at a time and one room at a time and you will eventually get it how you want it! Congrats on the “new” home.

I know the feeling! We just recently moved out of state. Took me about a month to get ‘everything’ unpacked and settled!

I am digging the pad…and the crap….and the craptastic I mean, whimsical, charming, eclectic fireplace. If I were closer I would help….sigh….

Just think of all the fun you are having unpacking. *insert my normal snark
